A quick thought to share with you as we go into the weekend: tomorrow is International Women’s Day, a (holi)day celebrated all over the world since the early 1900s.
Ladies, shake your tail feathers, tomorrow marks your day.
(just had to throw that in there because this is a very favorite Liza moment)
Okay, the married and momma ladies too. Because clearly I fall into that category.
The truth is, countries with more gender equality have more economic growth. Celebrating the growth of women entrepreneurs (be they basket weavers, coffee growers, boutique owners, bloggers, artists, tech ladies, large corporation overseers) means good (and big) things for people all over the world.
(however you do your thing, keep on doing it)
But it’s not just the working ladies that get to celebrate this day. Momma’s – raising children in every country – shape the world and the outlook for their sons, daughters, families. Women in third world countries who are educated are able to give their own children a boost and those children are our next generation.
(me ten ish years ago working with mommas and babies in Central America)
I loved this series over at Cup of Jo that featured American moms raising children all over the planet. What a treat for babies to spend the first two years on their momma’s back, how unusual to leave your baby in his stroller outside while you dine in and more about a country where everyone is always late (no wonder we loved traveling there).
(my own sweet babies – it’s good to be a momma, and a woman!)
In countries like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women’s Day is actually celebrated as a national holiday. Thankfully for the rest of us, it falls on a Saturday this year ;).
Happy weekend.
PS In the spirit of the day, 16 B2B women answer what’s the no. 1 ‘brand challenge’ today. This falls inline with my biz brain at the moment.

Love that Liv has a USC sweatshirt on. It brings me a weird amount of joy to see my nieces wearing SC gear. Fight on international women’s day!

I totally agree!
