Handmade Christmas Stockings

Handmade Stocking Inspiration: Main

When I was a 12 or so, my cousin hand made stockings for each member in the family. I can’t think of a more personal and lovely gift to give during the holiday season! Mismatched, quilted, knitted, refashioned — what a neat vintage Christmas feel to have a series of handmade stockings hanging from the fireplace.

Stockings above by Made and the garland of stockings below found at Martha Stewart Living. The Furbish Theory on Etsy has designed these beautiful stockings (bottom of collage) out of simple, organic materials.

I’ve pulled together inspiration for your own handmade stockings using every kind of material you can think of. Don’t have the time to make stockings from scratch? Embellish store bought ones with buttons, broaches, lace or felt cut outs.

Get the kids involved too — it will be a keepsake they hold on to for a lifetime. I still cherish my handmade stocking and honor it as a special gift by hanging it up each Christmas! MUCH more inspiration after the jump. Continue reading

Before & After: Inspiring Room Renovations

Beautiful Before & After Living Rooms by Habitat Hanalei Interiors

These Before & Afters by Habitat Hanalei Interiors are so inspiring! They are beautiful, classy and every bit stylish in their final design.

While you might not be in the market for a tear-down-the-walls renovation, creative ideas like these can inspire quick fixes too: remap the layout of a room to bring just the right amount of change, add a faux fireplace to a blank wall for a bit of architectural detail, repaint ceiling beams white to really make your space appear BIG, or incorporate new rugs, slipcovers or window coverings to spruce things up.

Follow the jump for four more inspiring Before & After shots, including PINK occasional chairs that I heart and a bright green guest room to satisfy that itch to be daring. Continue reading

Quick DIY Gift Tags for *Pretty Packaging*

DIY Christmas Gift Tags Main

If you didn’t have a chance to take advantage of the PDB 25% off Christmas gift tag discount from several fantastic artists earlier this month, here’s another quick idea for DIY gift tags that are both practical and pretty!

DIY Gift Tags 2

For this project, I used Christmas scrapbooking paper, a 1″ craft punch and a 1/8″ smaller punch for the inside hole.

So quick and easy to make! And an excellent way to differentiate between gifts on Christmas morning. Since I tend to wait and wrap all gifts in one afternoon, these tiny tags make it easy to remember which package, bottle of wine or plate of cookies is for which friend/family member while I’m racing out the door to a holiday party.

Instead of writing the recipient’s name in sharpie on the outside of the wrapped box, give this DIY project a try for pretty packaging!
