New Feature: Wardrobe Style Boards!

So a while back I had mentioned that I was working on a little project over here that I was over-the-top excited about. I’m nearly done with the programming of this little gidget and enlisted the help of a friend to help me work out the last loops.

And it’s here! It’s ready to be unveiled.

Wardrobe Style Boards has sat in the back of my imagination since launching the site – but there was always so much to share in the world of entertaining and home decor that I wasn’t sure if incorporating fashion would be the right move.

My love of all things design has gotten the best of me though and I hope you enjoy the regular looks/updates as much as I enjoy pulling them together!

So as not to disrupt the flow of the site, I’ve switched out that slideshow on the right sidebar and have dedicated it to the wardrobe look-book. You can click on it at any time and hop on over to a page FULL of fun fashion finds (complete with sources & pricing). There’s also a new pink navigation button over there in the left sidebar.

Whenever possible, I’ve linked favorite finds to Amazon since I’ve found that clothing & accessory links last longer (aka don’t sell out as fast, become broken links, etc) than regular store sites. Amazon has a continuous flow of sellers so usually products are available regardless of which store it’s shipping from.

Wardrobe Style Boards is launching with 5 outfit inspirations. Whether it’s fall or summer weather in your town (hope to be able to sort by weather soon!) there are a few ideas to inspire for all seasons. The feature will continue to grow with affordable finds each week and hopefully turn into a regular on the blog.

The functionality might change over the next couple of  months… but I’m excited that the Wardrobe Style Board page is finally here!! PS, if you see any glitches or bugs on your screen – or have any suggestions – do share!

Friday Guest Blog Interview: Centsational Girl!

Have you visited Centsational Girl? I’m head-over-heels for this thifty DIY blog that shares project on renovating, revamping and refurbishing in the most budget-friendly way.

Kate puts it best: “I’m a simple gal with a simple dream:  transforming the drab into the fab with an arsenal of paintbrushes, primer and power tools. I’m in pursuit of diamond style on a dime, and I refuse to believe quality must always be expensive.”

And her home is beautiful! You would never know that this district attorney-turned-mommy blogger created these fabulous spaces with so many wonderful DIY projects. Take her living room, for example – I would have guessed a photo shoot from one of my favorite home decor magazines:

{Swoon} and then some. Kate calls Northern California home (that’s my kind of girl) and spends time raising her three children after having left her law practice behind. “This site is where I share my adventures in DIY projects, interior decorating, and home improvement. My passion is finding hidden potential in the most tired of objects. I adore rescuing a dated piece and revamping it with a fresh new look.”

For Kate’s answers to PDB’s four quick q’s (plus a photo gallery of her inspiration, a few of her home projects and more) follow the jump. Continue reading

A Star Wars Party for a Little Jedi

Vesni from My Little Jedi sent over this adorable party from her son’s 1st birthday. Aniken (he’s named after one of the characters) had the perfect Star Wars party to celebrate with friends!

In Vesni’s words: “We had the most wonderful day and celebrated his birthday with our family and friends. The theme of the party had to be “Star Wars” as my son is named after one of the characters.

As for the sweet treats, I organized a mini candy buffet with a colour palette of red/black/blue lollies. The R2D2 birthday cake was made by Catherine from 2 Bites, the personalized chocolate bars and chocolate pops were made by the very talented Niki from Candy Soirees. The star wookie cookies and delicious star feature cupcakes were made by my lovely sister inlaw Suzanna. I also has organized personalized lolly pops from Pink Frosting.

We had inflatable light sabers for all the kids which they all loved & entirely enjoyed. The kids played ‘pin the light saber on a jedi’ game and the winner was presented with a ‘jedi certificate’.”

How cute are these wonderful labels? And that dessert table? By the way, a trip out to Vesni’s blog to check out all of her creative party ideas is well worth it – it’s adorable!
