Did anyone catch the lunar eclipse last night? We stood outside huddling on the deck at about 11pm to watch the moon turn a beautiful dark orange. Wow!
We celebrated the arrival of spring a few weeks ago with a little outdoor party for Liv’s friends. We did something similar last year as a ‘just because it’s summer’ sort of thing and it was a lot of fun. A good reason to all get together and play.
Easter is just around the corner, so decorating eggs was in order!
Rather than line up trays of dye, Liv and I created decoupage kits for each of her friends. It kept the mess a bit more contained and was an egg decorating style I hadn’t tried before.
I made big and bright tissue paper flowers to line the center of the table which felt a little more kid-friendly than a fabric runner, placemats or pretty napkins.
I love how they turned out. I attempted to keep them outdoors for a good week or so to brighten up the deck, it made my day looking out each morning from the kitchen to see such vivid pops of color! But eventually we had an unexpected overnight sprinkle. Womp womp.
We served smoothies in plastic cups dipped in matching paint colors as well as little finger food sandwiches for everyone to nibble on. Dessert? Polka dot cupcakes made from giant sheets of candy buttons.
Happy Easter week! I’m off to edit a few photos on some of the details from above, like printing on glassine bags (one of my favorite new discoveries that I’m planning on using again and again).
PS searching for more Easter ideas? Try here. And if you haven’t had a chance to decorate Easter eggs yet, we really went all out last year discovering five gold decorating ideas to try. Highly recommend for a little extra bling.
Beautiful! Morgan, you and Kids have done such a great work. I loved the colors you have used.
What an adorable party! I still remember the paper flowers from oh so long ago when I first discovered your blog. And all the little touches with the egg decorating and dipped cups just take it all over the top.
The flower centerpieces are so pretty! I’m not very crafty.. Can I ask how you made them?
Thank you, Erin! Yes absolutely – I’m putting a post together on it now. Hopefully tomorrow or Thursday for posting, *fingers crossed*.
So cute!! I love spring – it is such a happy season! I love how the paint on the cups matches the planter box thing next to it in the photo :)
Totally used the same paint :P, love how it ties together!
How fun! Everything looks so fresh and cheery. Those paper flowers are adorable.
