What inspires your design style?

I’m a story teller at heart and to me, design is all about telling a story. Incorporating classic styles with contemporary life and ideas makes a space feel more like home with history and personality. When visiting an inspired place, I like to step back, investigate the space and read the story behind the fabrics, textures, colors and shapes.

What do you love most about what you do?

Right now I blog about being a wife who also just so happens to love design. In both roles, I’m learning as I go. Making mood boards is a creative outlet that can take something like a favorite movie or recent vacation into an inspired living space. It’s how I continue to develop my personal style and design perspective. I also craft mood boards for others, too, because I love giving someone the vision to claim their space as their own. It sounds cheesy, but your home shouldn’t be just where you live, it should be a sanctuary for you and your family.

What are your favorite design trends?

I love how people are getting excited about giving new life to old furniture. Whether it’s a yellow chair with a graphic fabric cushion or a dark stained dresser turned bathroom vanity, there’s a beautiful history being recognized and re-established.

What are three design suggestions that you would like to offer our readers?

{1} Little details can transform a space. For us, it was installing crown moulding, which is not as bad as you might think. I also love how sleek stencils are gaining popularity. It’s a lot of work, but can bring some real personality to a room.

{2} A little bling never hurt anyone! One of my design faves is Candace Olson, who often uses shiny and sparkly finishes that add an element of luxury to her spaces.

{3} Lastly, remove any doubt or fear of failure. Mood boards help me collect inspiration to create look and feel that can be a jumping off point, instead of being caught in indecision. Sometimes, though, you just need to go for it!
